I just finished watching an excellent video by Tom Torero titled “Lover vs Provider, Monogamy vs Polygamy”. The foundation of Tom’s presentation is r/K selection theory. In terms of game this describes how men are perceived by women, ranging from alpha lovers on one end of the spectrum to beta providers on the other. One of the first references to r/K selection I remember was through Nick Krauser, though he discussed it in binary terms. Tom presents a range of possibilities that human relationships can take.
As I’ve been learning game over the past few years and gaining new experiences, I see that that the socially acceptable option of monogamy in a relationship or marriage isn’t the only way. Tom’s insights may be shocking to the traditionally-minded, but these are biological realities that we’d be foolish to ignore. By understanding where we fall on the spectrum we can be better prepared to make or avoid commitments that will shape the course of our life.
