I recently had one of my posts “How I Saved $40,000 to Move to Europe” featured on Money Mozart in the post “17 Insanely Smart People Who Saved a Ton of Money“. While “insanely smart” might be hyperbole, it has turned out to be a very wise decision, as moving to Poland has opened up a lot of possibilities for me that I simply wouldn’t have had in California.
Unlike a number of people featured in the post, I am not yet financially independent or anywhere near “retired”. I can’t imagine wanting to ever stop working, albeit on projects that interest me. What I did though, like many of the other case studies, is slash my spending, maximize savings and made use of “geoarbitrage” by moving to a low-cost-of-living country (Poland) where my dollars would go the farthest.
