Maverick Traveler recently completed a four part series titled “The Bulgarian Russian Girl” (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4), a chronicle of his experience meeting a girl in Burgas, Bulgaria, on the coast of the Black Sea.
As she stood there speechless, something told me that she might not be Bulgarian. First, she was a bit lighter, with pale skin and light brown hair, a huge difference from most Bulgarians who have jet-black hair and olive skin. Second, her face looked very Slavic with high cheekbones and a very familiar smile. Armed with these observations, I decided to ask her a question that I’ve asked countless of Bulgarian women before but with no results.
‘Do you speak Russian?’ …
It’s a great example of the high’s and low’s of international travel and seduction, as well as a reminder that even when you have everything sorted out, like the language, game and logistics, life has a way of throwing you curveballs.
