Most people lack discipline. They may have a bare minimum of personal responsibility which gets them through their day, paid and laid, but there’s something missing. They aren’t pushing themselves with new challenges, busting their ass daily to reach a new level of success or striving to become someone greater.
For those of us who have enough initiative to try something new and difficult, knowing it will make us much better, 30 Days of Discipline by Victor Pride, proprietor of Bold & Determined, is the total system reboot that we need.
Discipline is essentially the repetition of core habits, which cumulatively can create a lifestyle of high ambition and accomplishments. Habits are not formed on a whim, they need to be consistently repeated for at least several weeks to become a consistent part of your routine. 30 Days of Discipline focuses on instilling 12 core habits over a period of 30 days.
These habits include: waking up at 5am daily, no snacking and three meals per day maximum, cold showers daily, keeping a daily to-do list, and no masturbation or internet pornography, and other behavioral modifications.
Following the 30 Days of Discipline program was a challenge for me, but a process from which I emerged a much better man. Among the most useful habits that I’ve kept to this day is keeping a daily to-do list and writing everything down (actually using my smartphone to do this), which is a component of the Getting Things Done system that has apparently influenced Victor Pride.
On my first day of the program, I already felt dramatically more confident and focused, knowing that I was pushing myself in a way that 99% of people never would. The cold showers, the workout routine and abstaining from gluttonous and lustful vices were the physicial shock s to my system that spurred my mental energy to action. It was probably the most productive month of my life up to that point.
Victor’s bootcamp isn’t solely focused on the habits he lists, but serves as a model for creating the discipline that will allow you to develop any habit that you want. By practicing discipline over a period of 30 days you will surprise yourself at what you are able to accomplish and will realize that you can set your sights as high as your desires dictate.
