Until recently, i’ve been satisfied with life. I’ve worked hard to earn several degrees, my ambition led me to a great job at a world-class institution and financial comfort, I’m close with my family and passionate about my heritage, I compete in a sport I learned from scratch a few years ago and I’ve spent five years mentoring many very driven young men. What once satisfied me though no longer does. I see that I’ve settled in many ways and my yearning for new challenges grows by the day.
I’ve been inspired by many great writers that I’ve only recently discovered. Their greatness is less based on their prose than their honesty, ambition and inspiration. What I felt in the back of my mind about women, work and life’s purpose, has been spelled out to me for the first time. I’m in the process of making a dramatic change in my life, they’ll take me thousands of miles from home, but to a place that feels like home to me. My thoughts have finally crystallized, I’m taking daily steps to get ready for the big leap, I’ll share what I’ve learned along the way.
As men, we’re measured by our achievements. They’re the stone tablets we leave behind. By patiently chiseling, day in day out, we build a monument as tribute to our ancestors and as inspiration to our progeny. With patience and perseverance, the hardest stone will take the shape you will it to have.
